“CrossFit is SO MUCH FUN!…” says hardly anyone ever… until the CrossFit Open begins!

It’s that time of year where we as a community come together as a whole community, and even in teams within our community (read on) to have a few good ol’ fashion throwdowns and a room full of team spirit. You don’t have to be competitive or have been doing CrossFit for a long time to be a part of the fun!

To sum up, The CrossFit Open is 5 weeks of 5 workouts each week, performed with the support of your CrossFit community behind you. These workouts are designed to be performed as a means of testing your fitness this year. It’s called the Open because it’s OPEN to all levels–scaled, Rx and even Masters–yes, we’re talking to you!

“For CrossFit, the particularly offer a way for us to stay in our local box, to have judges from within our own community, and to still have data that is measurable, observable, and repeatable, on a worldwide scale, for us to participate in.” (Why everyone should do the Open, by Brute Strength). In essence, it gives you a bit more purpose to train each day.

This year, we plan to throw in a little bit more camaraderie and a lot more enthusiasm for the CrossFit Open with our CrossFit Intramural Open League (check out our 2018 Open post on Instagram here). Teams will be determined through a DRAFT process led by the CFDP coaches. All who are interested in participating will be assigned to a team, led by a captain–to push one another through these 5 weeks! You IN?

1. SIGN UP at games.crossfit.com

2. KEEP coming to your CLASSES; It’s only one month away!

3. Let us know when YOU have signed up; post in the athlete page or tell us in class

4. Be on the lookout for… CrossFit Des Plaines first Intramural Open League

5. Follow CrossFit Games on Facebook to keep up with announcements before the first week of Thursday, February 21st!
