Last week, we posted about how transformation begins within. Lots of us choose the start of a new week, month or year to commit to making a transformation.
Think back to the beginning of the turn of the 2018 year…
Were you experiencing a sense of enthusiasm about a fresh start?
Did you create a resolution, or goal for the next “chapter” of your life?
Was there a sense of urgency to make some change towards a better you?
Often times these are common experiences we go through at the beginning of the year, and we are able to plan and act on the first 4-6 weeks with high energy, a strong mental and physical commitment to our new goals, and sometimes we start to create a very valuable relationship with our new habits, and sometimes… we start to fall off, lose momentum, or just simply get a little tired.
Now we find ourselves, almost within the blink of an eye, at the end of the same year, and it is now the last 6 weeks of 2018. Have you evaluated your energy, enthusiasm, the goals you set at the beginning of the year, or have the same sense of urgency for self-improvement?
Let’s look at this scenario on a grander scheme of goal setting and transformation change: When you arrive closer to your goal(s), but still have that home stretch to go, are you someone who self-sabotages or are you someone who perseveres to the end? Ask yourself honestly which path you typically take. Then ask yourself: which path do you want to take? Are your actions reflective of who you where you want to go?
As we go into the holiday season, and enjoy our gatherings with family and friends, let’s keep in mind these times to also practice introspection and reflection amongst all the happenings–triumphs and trials alike–throughout the past year. Though it may be ever-so-tempting to just completely let loose, or maybe even cause some self-sabotage in these last 6 weeks, treat your last 6 weeks of the year the way you came into the first 6 weeks. Celebrate every victory. Evaluate every lesson. Start preparing for more greatness as you surround yourself with the people who support you and give you the energy and positivity you need to go into 2019 just as strong!
